When something changes with your eyes fast, it’s not worth waiting. Whether it’s pain, vision loss, or an eye injury, our emergency eye exams are designed to assess the situation quickly and safely.
What Qualifies as an Eye Emergency?
You should book an emergency eye exam (or call us right away) if you’re experiencing:
- Sudden vision loss or decrease in vision
- Flashes of light or floaters in your vision
- Eye pain or intense discomfort
- Redness or swelling that isn’t going away
- Injury to the eye or area around it
- Foreign object in the eye (metal, dirt, etc.)
- Chemical exposure or burns
- Double vision or sudden blurry vision
What Happens During the Exam?
- We’ll triage your symptoms to determine urgency.
- A full evaluation will check:
- Your vision and eye movements
- Your eye pressure
- The front and back of the eye using specialized tools
- If needed, we’ll dilate your pupils for a more detailed retinal exam.
We’ll give you a clear diagnosis, recommend treatment or medication, and refer you to a specialist or ER if necessary.
